Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

As many of you know, a big part of my journey towards becoming a therapist has been the hours I put in volunteering at The Relational Center.

I love donating my time to an organization that offers what I think is some of the best therapy those who can otherwise face very steep financial barriers to care. TRC offers some of the lowest cost to services in LA. In a city as spread out, disconnected and alienating as ours, TRC has been a refuge, a space to connect.

Depression, anxiety, PTSD, whatever the challenge, in addition to their unique challenges, they all essentially share nasty tricks of making us feel alone in our thoughts, convinced the challenges we experience are ours alone. A culture that stigmatizes mental illness and often prices the most vulnerable out of access to services, reinforces that nastiness. I've seen clients break out of that shell, that isolation, that pathogen in our culture, and it's the closest thing I think I've seen to magic in this world. How lucky am I to play just tiny part in helping that happen?

What I'm asking for this year, is that you help me and my colleagues at TRC continue helping people.

$20 would allow one client attend as many groups (like the one I facilitate called "Bodies and Trauma") and yoga classes at our center as they like, for one month.

$50 would allow that client to attend those groups and classes, and see an individual therapist like me.

Please consider your donation as sponsoring a client in our lowest range for one month of access to mental health services.
