The community of TRC values diversity and people’s differences.  They see value in my qualities that other organizations have rejected.  Because of this I have been able to flourish.  TRC has taught me the importance of collaborating with clients to develop their treatment plan.  We recognize treatment is mutually beneficial, that both the client and therapist learn and grow together in the process.  TRC supports use of creative experiential interventions that make treatment unique and meaningful for each client.  Together, members and I have built forts, gone on nature walks, written stories, made art, and performed mini-plays we wrote together – effective threptic interventions that are often not utilized at other sites where treatment is standardized and not created with the client.  TRC is a truly unique for valuing people who are different, and often overlooked or disqualified because of their differences.

TRC recognizes that everyone has value.  We believe that everyone should have access to mental health services.  We are strongly committed to social justice.  In alignment with our mission and values, we serve undocumented populations.  In order to serve people who are undocumented, we are not eligible to receive government funding.  Because we want to provide services for people who don’t have money, we offer low sliding scales so services affordable and accessible.  The result is that TRC is extremely underfunded.

Therefore, I am asking for a donation.  We need help from people who also believe mental health services and are entitled to wellness.  Your contribution helps unique people, like myself, have a community where we can learn and grow.  Any amount you can afford to contribute is appreciated; without the community’s support we cannot operate.  Please help The Relational Center continue to provide mental health services for all members of our community.

Here is my offer to you, we have a free group that I facilitate called Discover Your Story.  This is my invitation to you to come join the group so you can experience for yourself the value of TRC and what it provides our community.  It is a group where we increase our sense of connection, build community and leadership, and increase knowledge of personal values; it is not a psychotherapy group.  It runs about 8 weeks long.  The next round will begin in February.  Please email me for more information.

ABOUT 2018 Year-End Appeal

Every year we host a year-end appeal that offers our supporters one last opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation to The Relational Center before the end of the calendar year. Our goal for the 2018 year-end appeal is $30,000. These funds are critical for sustaining The Relational Center's community. With your support, we can continue to integrate individual healing and systemic cultural change through affordable comprehensive mental health services to low-income and marginalized folks. Help us build stronger, more empathic communities that can change the world!
